Confirmation Requirements:

Seventh and Eighth Grade Students -
St. vincent de paul parish has a two-year Confirmation preparation program. Students are asked to complete a minimum of 7 service projects each year. At the beginning of the summer, each student is given a packet of ideas, explanations and service report forms.
Each student must complete: 2 service projects in the home: 2 service projects in the parish; 2 service projects in the larger community; and 1 project with his/her parent(s).

Seventh and Eighth grades are very important in the formation of students in the church - These years are the primary preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation. This is the last sacrament of initiation and the first sacrament where students must make a personal commitment as an adult. Strict attendance must be followed. Not completing the requirements or excessive absences could result in delaying the sacrament. Archbishop Elden Francis Curtiss reserves the right to personally confirm all students under the age of 21. So it is possible that a student might have to wait until 9th grade or even later to receive Confirmation. Timely completion of projects and regular attendance helps demonstrate a person's readiness. Please be aware that a pastoral decision can be made, by the pastor in consultation with the director of religious education, that a student is not fully prepared for the responsibilities of Confirmation. If that happens, the student and his/her parents will be notified.

Eighth Grade Students -
Students in this grade level are required to attend the Evening of Reflection, a Confirmation Retreat and the Confirmation rehearsal and ceremony, in addition to the folder projects and forms distributed and explained at the parent meeting. You may contact the Religious Formation office at (402)493-1642 for more information.
