Religious Formation for Children

Welcome to the Religious Formation for Children site.  We are glad that you have joined us to explore the various aspects of our faith formation for children!

We recognize and support that parents hold the primary responsibility for their children's religious formation.  St. Vincent de Paul's Religious Formation program will creatively assist in this obligation.  We encourage parents to be a strong role model with a lived faith commitment and  meaningful prayer life.

As a dedicated faith community, the St. Vincent de Paul Religious Formation Program is committed to providing quality lifelong education for all members of our parish.  As a community of faith, inspired by the Gospel message, we will integrate the experience of community, worship and social justice into the total educational experience of our students, their parents and parishioners.  By Baptism, we are called to be faithful to the mission of Jesus.  Through religious formation, we will strive to develop a deep understanding of prayer and worship and its relevance in our lives.  In the spirit of our patron, we will witness to and serve the needs of those in need.

We offer a number of programs for children

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is an approach to the religious formation of children. It is rooted in the Bible, the Liturgy of the Church and the educational principles of Maria Montessori. Children gather in an ‘Atrium’, a room prepared for them, which contains simple yet beautiful materials that they use as tools in order to encounter the Good Shepherd.

During the 9:00 and 10:45 am Sunday Masses, children are invited to the Our Lady Chapel to hear age-appropriate Scripture readings, reflections and prayers of the faithful.

Religious Formation classes for students attending public school are held on Wednesday nights.  Preparation for the reception of the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation for all students is also part of the program.

Totus Tuus is a week-long summer Catholic youth program dedicated to sharing the Gospel and promoting the Catholic faith through evangelization, catechesis, Christian witness, and Eucharistic worship.
