Our Junior High Youth Ministry gives our 7th and 8th graders an opportunity to to learn and live out their faith in safe, fun ways to find Catholic community through fellowship, games, and catechesis - and to ask questions about their faith and experience Jesus in a personal way.
If you are interested in having your children participate in EDGE e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org with your name and your children’s name(s) to receive eVents eMails about EDGE opportunities.
On January 21st we will kick of the New Year in Junior High Youth Ministry with a Game Night! Giant versions of well-known games and Minute 2 Win It type challenges. As always, we will start with dinner at 6pm in the St. Vincent Room before proceeding with the evening’s activities.
(This program will be replacing the Youth Serve sessions that have been offered in past years. Just 5 Days is a middle school youth mission coordinated by the Center for Ministry Development (CMD) with content and schedule similar to Youth Serve)
FAITH is the heart of Just5Days. Our theme this summer is inspired by the scripture passage 1 Corinthians 12:27 “Now, you are the Body of Christ!” and the catholic social teaching principle of solidarity.
SERVICE during Just5Days places youth in direct, hands-on work that meets real needs of the local community.
PRAYER begins and ends each day of Just5Days.
COMMUNITY within Just5Days is fostered through age appropriate activities, group discussions, and simulation games.
CATHOLIC is who we are! Just5Days promotes the principles of our Catholic faith, Sacred Scriptures, teachings of Pope Francis, and other holy men and women who have heard the call to follow Jesus and serve with love.
Preparations are underway to take young people in currently in grades 8-12 to this summer’s 2018 Archdiocesan-sponsored Steubenville Conference trip. We will be attending Week 1 of the Mid-America Conference on the campus of Missouri State University in Springfield, MO from July 13-15, 2018.
Cost breakdown and deadlines:
The cost of the trip is $300 per person and includes the conference registration fee, meals and dorm housing during the conference, transportation, and group t-shirt.
The $50 non-refundable deposit is due with pre-registration by Wednesday January 31st to reserve a spot for the trip this year. Please note that the $50 non-refundable deposit cannot be refunded for any reason after February 1. The balance is due by April 15. To help with the cost of this trip, St. Vincent de Paul Youth Ministry will give a $75 grant to students who regularly attend youth group or are actively involved in other SVdP parish ministries (EMHC, Lector, Catechist, Choir, Ministry of Hospitality, etc.)
Additionally we will do a fundraiser similar to last year and those students who help with the fundraiser will get a portion of the money raised (approximately $50 last year)
Additional scholarships are also available directly through the Steubenville Mid-America Conference. As of December 5, the application is not yet available online.
