St. Vincent de Paul Parish donates 1.5% of each month's collection to agencies that serve people in need. The Outreach Committee, acting as stewards of these funds, determines the organizations that receive funds and the amount of the donations. The agencies listed below receive regular donations from the parish to support their day to day work. By giving regular support to selected organizations, the Outreach Committee aims to build relationships between the parish, the organization and parishioners.
Essential Pregnancy Services - EPS is committed to helping expectant and parenting families build healthy, productive lives. Through generous donations, EPS is able to assist in the medical, educational, material, financial and emotional needs of our clients. All of their services are free and confidential. Heart Ministry Center - The Heart Ministry Center provides basic necessities, educational opportunities, health outreach events, and support to individuals and families in north Omaha and surrounding areas. Holy Family Parish - Through its door ministry and other outreach Holy Family provides client assistance to neighborhood families, gives socks and underwear to children in need, redistributes food from grocery stores to Omaha area pantries, prepares lunches for distribution at four Omaha sites, and publishes the Criminal Justice Review. Juan Diego Center - Catholic Charities operates the Juan Diego Center. The center houses a food assistance program, Family Enrichment/Christmas Assistance programs, the SHARE food buying program, the Microbusiness Training and Development program, the Immigration Legal Assistance program, and individual and family counseling. Latina Resource Center - The Latina Resource Center is a collaborative project of Catholic Charities, the Chicano Awareness Center, Family Services and the YWCA. The Center strives to provide the services that help women develop personal and family skills, share and learn from each other, and find community resources for themselves and their families. Omaha Catholic Worker House - In the spirit of Dorothy Day and Peter Maurin, the OCWC is an intentional, Christian community of folks who are committed to living out the Gospel and nonviolent teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, in their daily lives. Their aim is to live in voluntary poverty; do the works of mercy; advocate for justice for the poor; be a prophetic nonviolence witness of Christ against injustice, militarism and all weapons of mass destruction belonging to any nation-state and military. We strive to live in a simple nonviolent lifestyle, pray daily, celebrate liturgy as often as possible and offer hospitality for 6 homeless men on a temporary basis. Omaha Together One Community - OTOC is a community group that works to connect people across lines that tend to divide them: race, economics, religion, and geography. St. Vincent de Paul Society of Omaha - Organized locally, Vincentians witness God's love by embracing all works of charity and justice. The Society collaborates with other people of good will in relieving need and addressing its causes, making no distinction in those served, because in them Vincentians see the face of Christ. Serra Club - The Serra Club works to support an increase in vocations. One of their additional works is to provide a weekly, televised Mass for shut-ins. Mass can be viewed at 10:30 a.m. on channel 6, WOWT. For more information on the work of Serra Club in Omaha visit www.serraomaha.org.
Siena/Francis House - The Siena/Francis House provides food, shelter, clothing, medical attention, job training, counseling and support for addictions to men, women and children. Stephen Center - The Stephen Center partners with the community, families and individuals to overcome homelessness, addiction and poverty. Stephen Center, Inc. serves the homeless and low-income men, women and children by offering an emergency shelter, the Hero program for people recovering from addiction, and a transitional living program.
