What is Alpha

Is there more to life? Can I really be happy? Is God real?

Alpha is a series of interactive sessions that allows you to explore the questions around faith in a friendly, open, and informal way.  Unpack the basics of Christianity, ask questions, and enjoy meeting new people who are seeking to answer honest questions or grow in an authentic, personal faith.

Who’s It For?

Everyone! Whether you are questioning or a long time believer, Alpha is for anyone who is curious and wants to go deeper in their understanding of life’s most important questions. The talks are designed to encourage honest conversation in a nonjudgmental community.

How Does It Work?

Alpha is comprised of 11 weekly sessions with a “day away” (a Saturday). Each session includes a delicious meal, a dynamic video, and an authentic discussion where you can share your thoughts. There is never any obligation to say anything. And there is nothing you can’t say. Alpha is about what is real, relevant, and relational! Come check out the first meeting. There is no cost and no obligation to sign up for the whole course!

Testimonies from SVdP Participants

“Alpha applies to all walks of life, young, elderly, married, converts, families, lukewarm Catholics and strong believers in the faith. There is no judging, you are free to voice your opinion or to be a sponge and soak it all in. This course was an eye opener for me.”

“Alpha was an incredible deepening of my spiritual life. I know I have to stay in the Word and Alpha has helped me start reading the Bible again.  I feel confident in the power of the Holy Spirit working in me.”

“The spiritual life is a journey.  We are all on it...together.”

“Alpha was powerful.  It opened the door for me to a new way of thinking about God.”

“Alpha is a tool to move me along and to help me know my community. Our church is really big and it is hard to feel connected. Now I know people and in a deep way.”
