Divine Mercy Pantry

Divine Mercy Pantry

In the spirit of our patron Saint Vincent de Paul, our mission is to provide food to those in need. As a Catholic community called to live as disciples of Christ, our guiding principles are to offer dignity and respect to those we serve and provide choice of foods for selection. We welcome year-round donations to help keep our pantry stocked for those in need.

Vision Statement

Upholding the dignity of the human person in the image and likeness of God, we will grow in providing services to those in need within the Omaha metropolitan community.

Volunteer Information

The pantry is open the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. All volunteers are required to:

If you have questions regarding volunteering, contact Renee Kampschneider at pantry@svdpomaha.org. If you have questions regarding Safe Environment Certification, contact Kelly Anderson at andersonk@svdpomaha.org.

Updated criteria for youth volunteering in our Divine Mercy Pantry when clients are present. Effective in 2026:

  • We will limit the number of teen volunteers to four each open pantry session. Teens will work indoors, side-by-side with adult volunteers, checking out clients, bagging their groceries or moving carts to the next needed location.
  • Participation will be open to 7th and 8th grade parishioners as well as high school students. (Special arrangements may be made with pantry leadership on a case-by-case for parish groups such as Scouts.)
  • We will ensure adult pantry volunteers are closely working with teens to ensure the teens’ safety. In addition, a “trusted adult” will be designated for each session and introduced to the student volunteers, should they need assistance.
  • We will start each session with a briefing for teen volunteers on rules and expectations and a reminder that failure to follow these will result in the teen being sent home.
  • We will ask parents of teens to sign up their child by emailing the pantry (pantry@svdpomaha.org) and leaving their cellphone contact. Friends will not be able to be added to the sign-up request; their parents must sign them up.
  • Timestamp of the emails will identify the first four for selection. All parents will be notified on whether their teen may or may not come.
  • We will ask parents to sign a waiver for their teen to participate. It will be emailed to parents. The completed forms will be kept on file in the pantry.

Other Ways To Help

Pantry Pals

Pantry Pals is a great way for parishioners to help stock our shelves and gives students the opportunity to earn service hours throughout the year. Pantry Pals is more than just a program; it dives into the heart of what community service is all about.

Participants plan a shopping trip, deliver the items to the pantry, help inventory the items and stock the shelves. Shoppers decide what size of family to shop for and which items to purchase from our inventory list.

Pantry Pals will be on the Saturdays before Open Pantry Mondays from 9:00am to 10:00am. Pantry Pals will also be on the third Mondays of the month from 4:00pm to 5:00PM.

Prayers of Support

Help pray for the operation of the Divine Mercy Pantry on open Pantry Days. Set aside 30 minutes and pray for the clients we serve, the volunteers working that day and the generous benefactors who provide donations.

God, Our Father,
We pray that our hearts are open to walk together in relationship with those we meet. We pray that we will be instruments of compassion and encounter Jesus in each person we serve. We give thanks for the generous hearts of those who support the pantry with time and donations. May all involved in the pantry ministry live out their faith in works of mercy. May our service be for your glory. Jesus, we trust in you.
