Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is rooted in the Bible, the liturgy of the Church and the educational principles of Maria Montessori.

What is Catechesis of the Good Shepherd?

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is an approach to the religious formation of children ages 3 to 6 years old. It is rooted in the Bible, the liturgy of the Church, and the educational principles of Maria Montessori. Children gather in an “atrium,” a room prepared for them, which contains simple yet beautiful materials that they use. The atrium is a wonderful place where your child can fall in love with Jesus, while reflecting on a biblical passage or prayer from the liturgy by working with the appropriate materials.

Atrium Days and Times

  • Thursdays: 9:00am-10:30am
  • Fridays: 8:45am-10:15am

For the 2026-2027 year, we will grow in our faith by using materials such as the articles of the Mass: the tabernacle, ciborium, the liturgical calendar and the vestments of the priests. Furthermore, your child will meditate on the Infancy Narratives of the Annunciation and Visitation as well as the parables, the gestures of the epiclesis and offering (doxology), while also learning about the gestures and oils used at baptism.
